Florida Panhandle Drayage
Honest port-of-entry guidance and long-haul coordination for the Florida Panhandle from Pensacola through Tallahassee.
Overview
Florida Panhandle Drayage & Long-Haul Coordination
The Florida Panhandle is the longest east-west reach in the state and the most honest place to talk about port-of-entry economics. From Pensacola the closest deep-water container port is not in Florida at all — it is the Port of Mobile in Alabama, roughly an hour west on I-10. From Panama City and Tallahassee the math gets murkier: Mobile, JAXPORT in Jacksonville, and the South Florida ports (Port Miami and Port Everglades) all have viable arguments depending on vessel string, sailing frequency, and inland trucking economics. For most importers we talk to with a Panhandle delivery destination, the right answer is rarely 'truck it 600 miles from Port Miami' — and a carrier who would quote you that without explaining the Mobile and JAXPORT alternatives is not really helping you.
Ritehaul is a South Florida asset-based operator. We do not own tractors based in Pensacola or Panama City. What we do own is the honesty to tell you when a Mobile-routed booking and a local Mobile drayage partner are the right choice for your Pensacola or Destin freight. Where we add value on the Panhandle is on the eastern half — Tallahassee, the Forgotten Coast, and the I-10 corridor as far west as Marianna and Chipley — and on freight that originates at Port Everglades, Port Miami, or the FEC Rail ramp and needs to move north and west. Direct truck from Port Miami to Tallahassee is roughly seven-and-a-half to eight hours via the Florida Turnpike to I-10. From the FEC Rail ramp to Jacksonville is 24–36 hours by rail, and from Jacksonville west to Tallahassee is another three hours by truck.
For Panhandle freight that does need to come out of South Florida, equipment is the standard Ritehaul fleet — 20-foot, 40-foot, and 45-foot ocean chassis, tri-axle overweight chassis, genset reefer chassis, and 53-foot dry vans for transloaded long-haul moves. We deliver to Tallahassee, Panama City, Lynn Haven, Destin, Fort Walton Beach, Crestview, Pensacola, Marianna, Chipley, and the smaller I-10 corridor towns when long-haul economics support it. For shorter-cycle or higher-frequency Panhandle programs, we will refer you to vetted Mobile and Tallahassee partners — and coordinate the South Florida origination side on the same account if you want a single carrier handling the booking flow.

What we run in Florida Panhandle
Honest Port-of-Entry Guidance
We will tell you when Mobile, JAXPORT, or a South Florida port is the right call for your Panhandle freight — and refer you to the right partner if a local Mobile or Tallahassee carrier serves you better.
South Florida → Panhandle Long-Haul
Direct truck from Port Miami, Port Everglades, or our Medley transload to Tallahassee, Panama City, Destin, and Pensacola via Florida Turnpike and I-10.
Eastern Panhandle & I-10 Corridor
Tallahassee, Marianna, Chipley, and the I-10 corridor are within reach of our standard South Florida lanes; we run them on a route-economic basis when long-haul math supports it.
FEC Rail + Jacksonville Coordination
FEC northbound rail through the Hialeah ramp to Jacksonville, then truck interchange west on I-10 to the Panhandle when intermodal economics outperform direct truck.
